Raku is a Japanese-inspired firing process that creates spectacular results very rapidly. Lots of smoke, fun, spontaneity and surprises! We will also explore alternative firing techniques such as sawdust and saggar and various decorating techniques including terra sigillata, propane torching, smoking, etc. The emphasis is on glazing and firing; therefore, some experience with clay construction methods is desirable, though not mandatory.
