In a fun and encouraging classroom, come build upon your foundational basic skills and discover the next level of intermediate design and fabrication. Instructor-guided projects and support will allow students to further fabrication and soldering skills and continue to develop craftsmanship, problem-solving skills and design. This class is an exciting "round-table" of techniques/projects/introductions: surface design (such as keum-boo, enameling, resin and reticulation), bezels and other settings for cabochons and faceted stones (such as tubesetting, step bezels, and non-round/oval stones), metal forming (such as mitered corners, shaping, hollow forms, forging, and the hydraulic press), construction options (such as cold-connections, mini torch, and piercing), and mechanisms (such as hinges, connections, and findings). Students will learn more about all jewelry forms, have more options and can determine their focus. The first class is generally when we meet as a group to discuss the quarterly projects, material options, and more! Techniques, projects and demonstrations vary each quarter. FYI- Joanne is still excitingly making, working, teaching and always learning about art jewelry for 25+ years. For more info and images, please visit www.joannehernandezmetals.com. Leslie's Classes

I was born in Oakland, California and grew up in the San Francisco Bay area during the 1960's. I graduated from San Jose State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Printmaking and a minor in Photography. My background includes Graphic Arts and Textile Design.

I moved to Atlanta in 1979 and married my husband Robert with whom I raised two children. I have studied Metalsmithing at the Spruill Center for the last thirteen years and have thoroughly enjoyed all of my classes and instructors. I bring a West Coast aesthetic to my work in Silver, Gold and Gemstones. For many years, I have been assisting my Spruill instructor Susan Saul, and have recently begun to teach the Beginning Jewelry & Metalsmithing course.
