Have you ever wanted to take a painting class, but you didn't know what type of painting you wanted to do? This is the class for you! We will explore three different mediums of painting. First we will paint with watercolors, and then the class will vote on two of the three different options: gouache, acrylics, or oils. In addition, you will learn such painting basics as: drawing, value, color mixing, composition, brush types, properties of different mediums, and more. There will be notes and handouts for you each week to help you learn and grow as well as step by step instruction and individual help and guidance. All of your paints and mediums will be provided for you for a $50.00 fee (a huge savings) paid to your instructor on the first day of class (exact change, check, or Zelle). All you have to bring is a few basic general painting supplies, eagerness to learn, and a good attitude!

Kristin's Classes

I've spent the majority of my life in the Atlanta Metro area. One of my earliest memories is seeing the King Tutankhamun exhibit when it toured the U.S. back in the eighties. I have enjoyed art all of my life, and I love traveling to paint and see the works of other artists. Right now, my goal is to paint at McMurdo research station in Antarctica.

I graduated from Georgia College & State University with an undergraduate degree in art in 2003 and a master's degree in secondary education in 2008. Now I'm combining my two loves, teaching and art, by becoming an instructor at Spruill in 2022.

I'm a colorist, and I'm primarily interested in vibrancy of hue and texture. I work in a number of different mediums including: watercolor, acrylic, alcohol markers, oils, pastels, and more. I like to explore and mix mediums as well. My favorite subjects are birds and flowers. My favorite artist is Eugene Delacroix, a 19th century French romanticist painter.

Fun fact about me: I studied watercolors in Paris, France during university.
