Learn how to safely etch your sterling silver using ferric nitrate and a Silhouette Cameo die cutting machine to cut custom vinyl decals as the resist. We will cover how to apply the vinyl resist to your silver, how to safely and properly etch your silver, how to stop the etching process, how to clean up the chemicals when the etching process is complete, and how to properly store your chemicals. A list of all materials used in class will be provided.
*Students are required to come to class with a printed/hard copy black and white image (no gray scale) that they would like to have etched onto sterling silver. Also required is a piece of 18g (or thicker) Sterling Silver in whatever size is to be etched. (Recommended at least a 3in x 4in sheet) All other materials, equipment and chemicals are included.
