Gesture is the basis, for all good drawings and paintings. This workshop is designed to improve student's visual instincts to fully grasp their subject matter, be they a still life, landscape, figures, or anything else. Students will learn and practice how to sharpen their eyes to capture their subject's basic forms, proportions, shapes, emotion, and movement. As an artist, you will find that gestural drawing is rather freeing. It is a form of expression that is neither abstract nor realistic. It is, quite simply, a quick sketch in which your hand follows your eyes. Bring a brown bag lunch. Supply List available on www.spruillarts.org.
