Are you ready to learn advanced techniques, tackle challenging subject matter, and discover how to create original art? This class is for the watercolor student that has mastered the basics of watercolor and is ready to level up their artistic game. You will still be supported by step-by-step instruction, demonstrations, class discussions, critiques, and one-on-one help. The goal is to develop your own personal style and artistic vision as you gain the confidence to work more independently in and out of the classroom. This class has a prerequisite of Beginning and Intermediate Watercolors or similar as this is not a class for brand new students to painting. Students may not sign up for this class without teacher approval unless they have previously attended the class.

Kristin's Classes

I've spent the majority of my life in the Atlanta Metro area. One of my earliest memories is seeing the King Tutankhamun exhibit when it toured the U.S. back in the eighties. I have enjoyed art all of my life, and I love traveling to paint and see the works of other artists. Right now, my goal is to paint at McMurdo research station in Antarctica.

I graduated from Georgia College & State University with an undergraduate degree in art in 2003 and a master's degree in secondary education in 2008. Now I'm combining my two loves, teaching and art, by becoming an instructor at Spruill in 2022.

I'm a colorist, and I'm primarily interested in vibrancy of hue and texture. I work in a number of different mediums including: watercolor, acrylic, alcohol markers, oils, pastels, and more. I like to explore and mix mediums as well. My favorite subjects are birds and flowers. My favorite artist is Eugene Delacroix, a 19th century French romanticist painter.

You can see more of my art on Instagram: @kristincomptonpaints on Instagram

Fun fact about me: I studied watercolors in Paris, France during university.
