KIDS ART CLUB (Ages 8-12)
Join us for an artful and educational experience on Saturday mornings with Ms. Jamie.
This session we have a special treat - students will learn how to bring their own creative ideas to life! This exciting kids class brings together several mediums - drawing, paper engineering, sculpture and painting - to support students' creativity and imagination. We'll go step-by-step through the creative process, learning the basics of concepting and designing your own project. Students will draw and design their own imaginary house - a fairy house, a troll's castle, a haunted house - their very own Imaginarium! They will then bring their vision to life, learning to engineer the structure out of cardboard and other recyclable materials. Their armature will then be covered with air dry clay, and textured with various tools. Finally they will paint and embellish their Imaginarium.
In this class students will be using sharp craft knives, hot glue and other materials that require special care. Safety rules and practices will be reviewed each class session and students will be encouraged to ask for help when they are unsure of how to use materials/tools. If you have questions or concerns about your child's skill level, please contact the instructor to discuss the best fit for them. All tools and materials are included with the registration fee. Students may also bring in additional recyclable materials to build their armature - cardboard, plastic containers, egg cartons, etc. Please avoid bringing in glass or breakables.
This class is perfect for students aged 8-12, grades 3-6. No drinks or snacks provided, please bring your own if you'd like. Students tend to get messy, so wear old clothes or bring a smock!
