Gail's Classes

Gail Novak teaches Watercolor - All Levels.

Gail has worked with the watercolor medium for the past 27 years and also works in pastels and various drawing mediums. She studied with the renowned John Pike, A.W.S., at his school in Woodstock, NY, during four summer sessions. Further studies included instruction from several other nationally known professionals such as Claude Croney, A.W.S.; Zoltan Szabo, Tony Van Hasselt, A.W.S.; Arthur Barbour, A.W.S.; and Tony Couch.

Gail received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL, majoring in Advertising Design with minors in Fashion Illustration and Art History.

Gail has received over 45 awards in shows and competitions throughout the Southeast region. Her subject matter is varied, including portraits, landscapes, buildings, still lifes, etc. She paints from life or from photographs taken when traveling. She also enjoys doing commission works for private and corporate collectors, utilizing her design and architectural background to produce paintings in a somewhat literal style. Her main objective when creating a painting is to be able to convey the actual feeling of a scene visually, rather than its photgraphic reality.
