Your cell phone and ipad are not just devices used for making calls and keeping track of appointments, they're also very powerful cameras. ameras that provide the tools to turn fun and playful images into fine art photography. Cameras that are always with you; and, with the wide variety of available applications, that provide the opportunity to process and create a finished photo within minutes of capture. There will be discussions and various demonstrations involving developing a workflow from the moment of pushing the shutter to printing out fine art images. Students will be provided with reference materials for further at-home review. Bring your Apple or Android cell phone or tablet, and your imagination.

Ann's Classes

Ann Clancy teaches darkroom, beginner and intermediate classes for digital photography, advantaged vision, and a workshop in mobile photography. She has an interactive teaching style designed to increase student involvement. You can find additional examples of her work at www.aclancyphotography.com

Miss Clancy has been a teacher of photography in the St. Louis and Atlanta area for over 45 years, with a Master of Education and Master of Fine Arts with a specialization in Photography. In addition to studying with Ansel Adams, she has participated in workshops and classes with renowned photographers Paul Caponigno, Roy DeCarva, Ernst Haas, Paul Kohn, Bob Kolebrenner, Katie Knight and Shinidi Kumanomido. During the summer of 2003, she participated in a workshop with Jonathan Bailey with the emphasis on GP-1 split toning and Mordancage.

In the year 2005, Miss Clancy took part in a workshop with Les McLean, a renowned teacher and photographer from Great Britain where the emphasis was on split printing.

In addition Miss Clancy has been a guest lecturer and judge at various camera clubs in both Atlanta and St. Louis. Miss Clancy has also been a part of the juror committee for the Atlanta Dogwood Festival and the Virginia Highlands Art Festival and the Atlanta Arts Festival. Most recently, for the year 2013 she has again been a part of the juror committee for both the Virginia Highlands and Atlanta Arts Festival.

At the present time, she is a photography instructor at The Spruill Center for the Arts. Teaching basic, intermediate and advanced darkroom skills. In the most recent years she has been offering classes in the use of digital cameras, both basic and intermediate sessions. This also includes learning to use Infrared techniques with digital equipment. In addition she also offers workshops and classes in advance photography classes, toning techniques (both basic and exotic), fabric printing and mounting and presentation of photographs.

In the coming year, the Art Center, with it's commitment to traditional process, will be offering various classes and workshops using Van Dyke, Platinum and Palladium printing techniques. In addition to formal class room instruction, Miss Clancy does consulting work with those unable to attend a structured class schedule.

Miss Clancy has been a winner of several nationally published newspaper sponsored photographic contests and had the honor of being the Best of Show winner at the St. Louis Artiest Guild yearly exhibition. She has had several Woman Shows and is shown frequently with other artists in the Atlanta area. Her most recent show was a 50 year review presented during Atlanta Celebrates Photography.

Miss Clancy cites Sally Mann and Ruth Berhardt as two of her favorite artists and biggest influences on her work.

And in her heart, Miss Clancy stands 6 feet tall.
