The experience of painting a portrait is a vital expression of personal observation and creativity – and it’s fun! Oil paint is revered for portraits- come learn to use this incredibly versatile and beautiful medium, and enjoy painting portrait sketches! Learn how to start by creating a dimensional and atmospheric underpainting using subtle color, five values, and the wipe-out technique. Then, learn to mix a full range of skin tones with a limited palette of only four paint colors- and practice painting a portrait sketch from life! We will work from live models both sessions. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn and grow as a portrait artist, or to try oil painting for the first time! Model fees will be collected by the instructor on the first day.
