You may work with oil paints or soft pastels in this class. The objective of this class is to teach you to see like an artist. We will work with live models, still-lifes, florals and photos. We'll explore drawing, composition, proportion, value, and color. Using a step-by-step method, you'll see how easily you can tackle complicated subjects.
On days we have a model, we will spend the first half hour doing gesture drawing on newsprint, so bring a newsprint pad, vine or compressed charcoal and money to pay model fee ($75 divided by number of students in class that day). Make sure to have plenty of small bills; I will not be able to make change. After gesture drawing, the rest of that class period we will paint one long pose. You will be sent a schedule by email before class begins.
Supply List available on www.spruillarts.org or http://margaretdyer.com/workshops.html.
