Have you ever wanted to try watercolors, but it seemed too hard or intimidating? Let’s escape the noise of the real world and retreat into beautiful colors, soothing shapes, and luminous layers. In this class, you will learn a fun, easy, and relaxing way to paint watercolors where mistakes, accidents, and serendipitous processes are all part of the journey. This is a nonjudgemental zone where the emphasis is on having a good time while learning several beginning watercolor techniques that anyone can do! There will be a handout and a step-by-step demonstration to add to your learning experience.

All art materials are provided by the instructor and included in the cost of the class. You may want to bring in a big, heavy book or two to help one of our processes be more successful.

Kristin's Classes

I've spent the majority of my life in the Atlanta Metro area. One of my earliest memories is seeing the King Tutankhamun exhibit when it toured the U.S. back in the eighties. I have enjoyed art all of my life, and I love traveling to paint and see the works of other artists. Right now, my goal is to paint at McMurdo research station in Antarctica.

I graduated from Georgia College & State University with an undergraduate degree in art in 2003 and a master's degree in secondary education in 2008. Now I'm combining my two loves, teaching and art, by becoming an instructor at Spruill in 2022.

I'm a colorist, and I'm primarily interested in vibrancy of hue and texture. I work in a number of different mediums including: watercolor, acrylic, alcohol markers, oils, pastels, and more. I like to explore and mix mediums as well. My favorite subjects are birds and flowers. My favorite artist is Eugene Delacroix, a 19th century French romanticist painter.

Fun fact about me: I studied watercolors in Paris, France during university.
