Kathy's Classes

At 40 my husband and I bought a house, quit our jobs, cut our hair and quit smoking-all on the same weekend!! We started a construction business working with hotels. I became quite adept with a power drill and a saw.

When you have guys working for you they ask--can I borrow $5 bucks for lunch or a few dollars til payday? Eventually--I'll never be able to pay you the $300 I owe you, would you take this used welding equipment I got from my father? Of course!!! Power tools!!!

I found a course at the Spruill Center for the Arts in Metal sculpture that looked like it would teach me to use the equipment. And I found my medium. I was a metal sculptor!!! I've made thousands of sculptures over the years that live in gardens all over metro Atlanta. And I now teach welding at Spruill!!!

I describe my style as an enhanced line drawing. My steel sculptures are light and airy even made from heavy-duty junk.

My goal as an artist is to make you smile. Enjoy my work. I also make an abundance of big critters.

Check out my website or better yet, text for an appointment and come see my critters in their natural habitat.
