Drawing is a vital means of seeing and experiencing the world around us. Many abstract artists have the ability to draw realistically but choose not to. What compels them to untether themselves from reality, and what do they gain by doing so? This workshop will create fun opportunities for you to explore your creativity though mark making, value, composition, design, and abstraction. Perfect for beginners, this is a mixed intro and expert workshop for all levels of artists. Sharpen your skills and lift your art to new heights through a variety of expressive and kinetic projects. Explore creating sweeping drama and visual depth through large-scale abstract charcoal drawings that are fun to create! Charcoal offers a unique range of rich values and mark-making potential that can greatly expand the visual vocabulary of the artist. Add a pop of pastel if you want to experiment with electrifying color! All materials- charcoal, pastels, paper, and more- will be provided. We will take a break, so bring a drink and a snack. Come enjoy this opportunity to express yourself creatively and try new techniques and materials in a fun, relaxed environment- all levels welcome!
