This four-week course introduces students to the diverse and creative potential of the natural dye, Indigo. In this workshop, students will learn multiple ways to create designs with indigo. The class will review four Shibori methods: Kumo, Itajime, Arashi, and Nui. Students will use folding, tying, and binding resist techniques to create beautiful designs on fabric. We will also be going over clay-resist methods for more controlled patterns. Throughout the workshop, students will discover how indigo is made and witness the fascinating transformation from green to blue. By the end of the class, students will know how to dye with indigo and leave with a unique piece of fabric!
