Welcome to an Introduction to Bookbinding, Hardbound edition. In this two day class, you will learn how to bind the signature block for the book, the process to glue and support the spine, and create a hard bound cover with a bookmark and endbands attached to give it that finished look. In addition, we will discuss alternative binding techniques used in making hardbound books and the terminology used so that you can continue to make more on your own. A Materials Kit Fee of $15 PAYABLE TO INSTRUCTOR AT FIRST CLASS provides the materials needed. Students need to supply their own mechanical pencil and way to take notes. All other tools are supplied for use, or you may bring your own tools based on the ADDITIONAL TOOLS section in the Supply List. See spruillarts.org for a list of supplies needed for this workshop.
