LANDSCAPE PAINTING FOR BEGINNERS

Come enjoy a group class setting as you venture into the wonderful world of landscape painting! We'll begin with the basics in understanding composition, color and value when it comes to landscape painting. You'll learn the fundamentals and some tips to get you started when approaching landscape painting. Students will first complete some drawing exercises and a value study before copying a couple of small landscapes to gain practice painting. From there, students can work from a reference of their own or some photo references supplied by the instructor. Required supplies are oil or acrylic paints 2.0oz tubes. Recommended colors Cadmium Red Medium, Cadmium Yellow, Yellow Ochre, Permanent Green, Sap Green, Ultramarine Blue, Cerulean Blue, Phthalo Blue, Raw Umber, Burnt Umber, Burnt Sienna, Paynes Grey, Ivory Black and large tube of Titanium White. For oils, please bring a container of odorless turpentine and a rag, bring a jar with lid to hold water or turpentine to clean brushes. One 11" x 14" and one 12" x12" stretched canvases or canvas boards. Selection of sizes of flat and filbert brushes for either oil or acrylics. Wax disposable paper palette pad. Feel free to bring any additional supplies you would like to use!
