Enjoy a fun and inspiring afternoon surrounded by beautiful flowers as you learn to create delicate floral oil paintings in the alla prima style! This workshop will teach you to paint flowers and roses in oil with a loose, fresh, soft approach. You will practice painting directly from life, choosing gorgeous fresh flowers to inspire you! Learn approaches to understanding and simplifying flower shapes, color mixing, oil painting basics, advanced techniques like edges, and more! Sharpen your skills at making compositional choices, learn to define forms with light and shadow, explore creating drama and depth, and how to subtly direct the viewer’s eye to the focal point. Painting experience is helpful, but this is a workshop for all levels of artists! A $15 material fee will be paid to the instructor at the start of the workshop. We will take a break, so bring a drink and a snack. Be ready to create and to have fun- all levels welcome! Supply List available on www.spruillarts.org.
