Learn how to paint expressive floral still-lifes from life and photo references in my 5-hour workshop! We'll discuss floral artist of the past and present before we dive into a drawing exercise and get a better understanding of the structures of flowers and foliage. Then students will be instructed in the fundamentals of composition, color, and value. You'll learn how to set up your own floral still-life as the instructor constructs several floral still-lifes for students to paint from life. There will also be some photo references to select from. The instructor will also complete a quick painting sketch to demonstrate to attendees a step-by-step process of painting a floral still-life. Canvas, acrylic paint and brushes will be supplied for you if you need, or you can bring along your own supplies of oils or acrylics, flat and filbert brushes, and some small 12 x 12 and 11 x 14 canvases. Paint colors would be ultramarine blue, sap green, permanent green, raw umber, yellow ochre, cadmium red and yellow, burnt sienna, Payne's grey and large tube of titanium white. This 5-hour workshop will be packed with knowledge and fun as we explore the beauty of painting floral still-lifes together!
