Learn how to paint and draw expressive floral still-lifes in this 4 hour workshop. Everything will be supplied for you! The workshop begins with a quick discussion about floral artists of the past and present before we dive into a drawing exercise to get a better understanding of the structures of flowers and foliage. Then students will be instructed in the fundamentals of composition, color, and value. After some painting exercises, the class will paint a simple floral arrangement as the instructor demonstrates to attendees the step-by-step process of completing the painting. You'll receive tips on mixing paint and using your brush. And you'll learn how to set up your own floral still-lifes at home! Pencils, paper, canvas, acrylic paint and brushes will all be supplied for you, or you can bring along your own brushes and oil or acrylic paints. Paint colors recommended will be ultramarine blue, sap green, permanent green, raw umber, yellow ochre, cadmium red and yellow, burnt sienna, Payne's grey and a large tube of titanium white. This one-day workshop will be packed with knowledge and fun as we explore the beauty of painting floral still-lifes together. This is a great opportunity for beginning and intermediate artists!
