Lights. Camera. Emotion. Anyone can take a picture, but how can you make someone have a visceral reaction from looking at a photograph? With a little bit of planning and know-how creating a successful, impactful image can be created to WOW your audience. In this class we will be looking at how to convey concepts of emotion like happiness, isolation, confidence, etc with composition, light and posing in photography. We will include numerous lighting scenarios and use of space to support “telling a story” in a photograph. In the final week the kids will work in teams to conceptualize and photograph a themed portrait to tell their unique story. Photographs will be printed showing the students work. Cell phones, ipads or dslr cameras are welcome. Basic knowledge of photography is a bonus, but not required.
