HOLIDAY INDIGO SHIBORI AND FUROSHIKI WRAPPING
Discover the world of shibori resist combined with the magic of indigo dyeing to create beautiful 100% cotton 22" X 22" bandanas that are great gifts, add fabric to your sewing stash and can also be used to substainably wrap gifts! Students will learn several different ways to create striking white patterns by combining fabric with physical resists-such as folding, stitching, wood clamping, and wrapping-then dip-dyeing in a traditional indigo vat for a rich blue contrast. The reduction strikes and transforms before our eyes after the fabric is removed from the vat and exposed to oxygen. Saturday we will be dyeing up to 8 bandanas. On Sunday, we will do the final rinse and iron, and find inspiration in finished pieces. We will take a lunch break on Saturday.
