Welcome to an Introduction to Bookbinding. Perfect for those who have been interested in learning the basics to bind their own books, but didn't know where to start. In this 2-day workshop, we will discuss a little history related to binding techniques, go over the parts of the books and tools, what they're for, how each is created, and what brings it all together. You will make 4 books, each using a different binding technique for each one. The binding styles we'll be using are commonly known as: Japanese Stab Binding, French Link with Tape Binding, Egyptian Coptic Stitch Binding, and the Crisscross Stitch Binding (aka. Secret Belgian Binding). There will a break for lunch, so please remember to bring something to eat and drink during that time. This class is taught in connection with Eagle Eye Books of Decatur, GA. See spruillarts.org for a list of supplies needed for this workshop. Addtionally, a Materials Kit Fee of $15 PAYABLE TO INSTRUCTOR AT FIRST CLASS provides the additional materials you need.
