INTERMEDIATE BOOK BINDING: REBINDING A PAPERBACK BOOK INTO A HARDBACK BOOK

Welcome to another step to bookbinding, Rebinding Edition. In this two day class, you will learn how to properly take apart a supplied softbound/mass market book and convert it into a hardbound book. This includes: how to reattach pages that are falling out, how to calculate the proper measurements for the hardbound pieces, why those calculations, additions of endbands and paste downs/flyleafs, and the use of decorative handmade papers for the covering. A Materials Kit Fee of $15 PAYABLE TO INSTRUCTOR AT FIRST CLASS provides the materials needed. Students need to supply their own mechanical pencil and way to take notes. All other tools are supplied for use, or you may bring your own tools based on the ADDITIONAL TOOLS section in the Supply List. See spruillarts.org for a list of supplies needed for this workshop.
