DRAWING EXPRESSIVE PORTRAITS IN CHARCOAL: 2 DAY WORKSHOP

Explore the fascinating and surprising (often hidden) history of Impressionism! You'll paint and draw as you learn about the rebellious artists and technical and visual breakthroughs that made Impressionism so important to this day. Why do paintings and drawings that "break all the rules" draw huge crowds while museums and private collectors fight to own them? Try out this unique way of seeing and painting the world! Learn how to add the charm and beauty of Impressionism to your style. You'll leave with a better understanding of art techniques and materials, and not just history but the incredible opportunities available to Impressionists working today! Expect to leave with one or more finished paintings and drawings in the style of Impressionism, and some great stories to tell your friends. Bring a coffee or tea and prepare to have fun! Open to artists and art lovers working in oil, acrylic, gouache, watercolor, pastel, colored pencil, markers, and more! Materials will be provided by the instructor, or you can bring your own. Paint and drawing supplies are included in the optional $20 materials fee, PAYABLE TO THE INSTRUCTOR AT THE WORKSHOP. If you choose to bring your own, please see www.spruillarts.org for a list of supplies you will need to bring to class.
