Vicki's Classes

Working with clay is like magic, as it allows us to create beautiful and functional art from the earth under our feet. I first discovered this while making mudpies as a child, and, while I have refined my technique in college, workshops and through interaction with other artists over many years, the magic is the same.

I currently work both as a private studio potter and as an instructor at the Spruill Center for the Arts and at the J.C. Hudgens Center for the Arts, in Georgia. My emphasis is on wheel-thrown stoneware with sculptural additions or resist design elements. I strive to integrate shape, function and design while infusing each unique piece with humor and personality.

I was honored to be one of 32 artists in all media selected by the governor of Georgia as an Outstanding Craftsperson in the Year of the Crafts. My work is in numerous private collections, and is included in two Lark books -- 500 Plates & Chargers: Innovative Expressions of Function & Style and 500 Raku: Bold Explorations of a Dynamic Ceramics Technique.
