CLAY AND CONNECTION: CERAMIC SUPPORT GROUP

This 5-week clay-based art therapy group offers participants a supportive and creative space to explore personal growth, emotional expression, and connection through the therapeutic process of working with clay. Designed for individuals participating in CaringWorks programs, the group emphasizes safety, empowerment, and community while encouraging participants to reconnect with their sense of identity, resilience, and inner strengths. Through guided ceramic projects, mindfulness-based creative exercises, and reflective group discussion, participants will have opportunities to build self-awareness, reduce stress, strengthen emotional regulation, and improve overall functioning in daily life. Participants will also learn foundational hand-building clay techniques while gradually building skills from week to week to support the completion of individual ceramic projects. The tactile and grounding nature of clay provides a calming sensory experience that can support nervous system regulation, increase focus, and foster a greater sense of presence and accomplishment. Each session is designed to nurture creativity while also cultivating interpersonal connection, communication, and mutual support among group members. No prior art experience is necessary. The focus of the group is not artistic skill, but the healing process of creating, reflecting, learning new skills, and growing within a supportive community environment.
