Concertina books, or accordion books, are made from a continuous length of folded paper. They allow an artist to create in an extended format on both sides of the folded strip of paper, making them ideal for storytelling or the development of a progressive composition. They are a popular format for sketchbooks, but we'll explore the possibilities of creating works of fine art. You'll learn how to construct standard accordion books of varying sizes and lengths, complete with hard covers, and you'll use a variety of media to express your own artistic vision with techniques that will be demonstrated. Watercolor paper and backer boards (for covers) will be provided. See supply list for additional supplies needed at spruillarts.org
