Do you feel lost or frustrated when trying to mix color? Do you hope for luminosity and end up with muddy colors instead? With over 30 years of painting experience, Pat will share what she has learned that guides her color choices and can help simplify color mixing. You'll learn the why and how behind color mixing and will do some exercises together that will help you have more skill and confidence in mixing colors that vary in intensity, value and color temperature.
You will gain a better understanding of what colors to mix to get the colors you want for your painting and WHY to make those choices.
For one of our exercises, we will do a deep dive into the color green which can be especially challenging and is a color that is crucial to handle well for landscape and floral paintings.

Pat's Classes

Pat Fiorello teaches painting- both oils and watercolor. Her workshops include basic introductory painting for beginners (Art for Non- Artists for watercolor and Oil Painting Let's Get Started), as well as specific topics for intermediate students, like Painting Landscapes and Painting Flowers among others. She mainly offers 1, 2- and 3-day workshops. In general, her subject matter leans towards flowers, still life, landscapes, gardens. Inspiring, organized, lots of content delivered clearly and directly. She describes herself as a clear communicator who explains the how's and why's to help students build both their skills and understanding in an encouraging, fun and supportive atmosphere. Pat Fiorello is an award-winning fine artist, instructor and author of the book, Bella Italia, Italy Through the Eyes of an Artist. Her work has been featured in 20 one-woman shows and been included in over 100 juried exhibitions, including the American Impressionist Society, Oil Painters of America and NOAPS. As a finalist in the Florals and Gardens challenge, Pat’s work appeared in International Artists magazine and was also published in The Richeson International Still Life and Floral competition book in 2021 and 2023. Pat’s worked was selected as Best Floral in the April 2023 PleinAir Salon competition sponsored by PleinAir® Magazine

Inspired to devote her life to creating and sharing beauty, Pat made a radical career shift following a 20-year career in Marketing. After attending the Harvard Business School and serving as Vice President of Marketing of The Coca-Cola Company, in 2002 she followed her calling and dedicated her life to creating art on a full-time basis.

Pat teaches workshops both in person and on-line, and has led 19 international workshops in Italy, Spain, New Zealand, and France, including private workshops at Monet’s Gardens in Giverny.
